Variety description

The variety is a relative of the Burgundy group of varieties and has a genetic link to Pinot noir. The vines are characterized by vigorous growth. Leaves are medium-sized, three- or five-lobed, moderately lobed. Clusters are medium-sized, conical, dense, with blue-black oval or round berries.

The variety belongs to the mid-season maturity group with harvest beginning in the first half of October. It possesses good frost resistance, however, resistance to diseases is rated as medium, and due to the density of the clusters, there is a susceptibility to rotting during prolonged rains.

Wines from this variety have a dark garnet color and characteristic aromas of cherry, plum, and blackcurrant. The taste is full, harmonious, with pronounced acidity and tannins that become softer with aging.
