The variety is a somatic variant of grape originating from the Emilia-Romagna region. The flower is hermaphroditic. The leaf is five-lobed, round, with no pubescence on the underside. Maturity group is medium.
Clusters are medium, elongated, cylindrical, of medium density. A characteristic feature is the presence of both large seeded and small seedless berries within a single cluster. Berries are dark purple with a waxy bloom, the skin is thin, the pulp is fleshy and juicy, and the taste is harmonious.
The variety has high yield, but is characterized by susceptibility to fungal diseases and low temperatures. It is traditionally used for wine production with cherry aroma and tannins, and was historically used for drying and as a table grape.
