The variety belongs to the species Vitis vinifera and originates from a natural crossing of an unknown variety and Refosco di Faedis. The bushes are characterized by good growth vigor. The mid-late ripening period is accompanied by stable high yields.
Clusters are medium, conical or pyramidal in shape, ranging from dense to medium density. The berries are dark blue, almost black, of medium size, with thin skin and a thick waxy bloom. The variety possesses good resistance to frost, fungal diseases, and rot, but may be susceptible to flower drop.
The grapes are used exclusively for winemaking. Wines produced from it are characterized by a ruby-purple color, high acidity and tannin content, as well as aromas of wild berries, cherry, herbs, and earthy notes.
