Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is the result of a natural crossing of the Albillo Mayor and Benedicto varieties. The name comes from the Spanish word temprano, which means early, as the variety flowers and ripens earlier than many other local black grape varieties.

The leaves of the variety are large, five-lobed, deeply dissected, with arachnoid pubescence on the underside and bright red autumn coloration. The flower is hermaphroditic. The bunches are of medium density, berries are of medium size, round or slightly flattened, black in color with a matte bloom.

The variety is classified as a wine grape, characterized by high yield, which requires regulatory pruning. It possesses sensitivity to spring frosts and susceptibility to typical fungal diseases of grapes, such as downy mildew and powdery mildew, as well as gray mold due to the thin skin of the berries.
