Tramini is an ancient international grape variety whose origin is associated with the South Tyrol region. It is cultivated in many European countries, including Hungary. The variety is not a breeding product of the Eger Research Institute for Viticulture and Enology.
Various forms of the variety are mentioned in Hungary, such as Piros tramini (Pink Traminer) and Fehér tramini (White Traminer). This variety should be distinguished from Traminette, an American hybrid obtained by crossing Joannes Seyve 23.416 and Gewürztraminer.
