The family comprises about three dozen different variations, which can differ significantly from one another. Morphologically, the representatives are characterized by large clusters and light, greenish-yellow berries. The vine is notable for its vigorous development and requires mandatory trellis training.
Technical characteristics include high acidity and a neutral flavor profile of the berries. These properties make the variety sought after for the creation of dry white wines, as well as for the production of distillates, such as cognac and armagnac. Some varieties are also used in the production of balsamic vinegar.
