The variety is native to the Lake Garda area on the border of Lombardy and Veneto. Genetic studies have confirmed its independence and relationship to the Verdicchio variety, while the variety is unrelated to Trebbiano Toscano.
The plant belongs to late-ripening varieties. The bunches are of medium size, with a compact elongated pyramid shape; the berries are spherical with thick skin and bloom. The variety is demanding of growing conditions and prefers clay-limestone soils of moraine origin.
The grapes are used exclusively in winemaking to create still and sparkling wines. The wines are characterized by high natural acidity, pronounced minerality, and an aromatic profile with notes of white flowers, citrus, stone fruits, honey, and almonds.
