The variety is of Greek origin, presumably from the Macedonia region. According to genetic studies, it is a product of a natural cross between Gouais Blanc and an unknown parent variety. The plant is characterized by high vigor and bud fertility with upright or semi-upright shoots.

The variety is susceptible to fungal diseases, including downy mildew, powdery mildew, and grey mold. Wines from this grape are distinguished by an intense aroma with notes of black fruits, tomatoes, olives, and cherries, as well as a high level of acidity and significant tannin content.
