The variety is a historical local plant of the Zadar region in Northern Dalmatia. It belongs to the technical (wine) varieties and is currently considered endangered, which is why it is preserved primarily in collection vineyards and gene banks.
The variety is used for creating red wines and possesses a specific phenolic composition of the berry skin that distinguishes it from other regional varieties. Synonyms for the variety are Gregovo Sjeme, Gustopupica Tvrda, Kuč, Kuč Mali, Kuč Tvrdi, Noir de Zadar and Sibenik.
Precise agrotechnical descriptors, including yield indicators or disease resistance, are not provided in publicly available reference books due to the variety's genetic status and its rarity.
