The variety originates from the Gironde region in France, from where it was brought to Italy and Slovenia. It is a late-ripening grape intended exclusively for winemaking, characterized by high yields and the ability to accumulate significant amounts of sugar.
The leaves of the variety are rounded, slightly lobed, with a reticulate-wrinkled surface. The clusters are medium or small, of medium density; the berries are rounded, white in color with a thick waxy bloom. The plant is characterized by low resistance to downy mildew, powdery mildew, and gray mold.
Wines from this variety possess freshness, good structure, and recognizable notes of apricot, flowers, and bitter almond. High sugar accumulation allows for the production of wines with an alcohol content of up to 14.5%.
