Weevils are pests of white clover that affect both vegetative organs and generative structures. The primary damage to the crop is caused by nodule weevils of the genus Sitona and seed weevils of the genus Apion.

Two groups of pests from the weevil family are identified on white clover. Nodule weevils of the genus Sitona, including the species S. lepidus and S. hispidulus, damage the plant at all stages: adults eat the leaf margins, and larvae destroy root nodules, critically reducing nitrogen fixation and suppressing plant development.
The second group, seed weevils of the genera Apion and Trichapion, specializes in attacking generative organs. The larvae of these insects develop inside buds and inflorescences, consuming the bases of flowers and damaging forming seeds, which leads to significant losses in seed yield.
