Hordeum vulgare L.
A group of barley diseases caused by pathogenic fungi, including net blotch, stripe disease, and spot blotch (root rot). The diseases affect leaves, roots, and grain, causing necrosis and significantly reducing crop productivity.

Net blotch, caused by Pyrenophora teres, appears during the tillering stage as oval brown spots with a reticulated pattern of longitudinal and transverse stripes. Stripe disease, caused by Pyrenophora graminea, is characterized by the appearance of narrow yellow stripes that transform into necrotic dark brown bands, often leading to spike sterility.
Spot blotch (caused by Cochliobolus sativus) manifests as root rot with blackening of the stem base, as well as leaf spotting and grain infection known as 'black point'. The resistance of cultivars to these pathogens is assessed based on the disease severity index (DSI) and the crop's ability to withstand a complex of Helminthosporium leaf spot species.
