The mites feed primarily on the underside of chrysanthemum leaves. As a result of cell sap extraction, mesophyll collapse occurs, which manifests as a gray or yellowish tint of the leaf blades followed by the development of necrotic spots.

At high population densities, the pest moves to open flowers, causing them to turn brown and wilt, which externally resembles a chemical burn. The presence of webbing on the plants makes the products unsuitable for sale, and in cases of severe infestation, there is a total loss of commercial quality.
