The recommended substrate volume varies from 5–7 L for miniature cultivars to 12–15 L for large specimens. A mandatory requirement is the use of well-drained soil mixes with a neutral or slightly acidic pH, and the presence of drainage holes in the container to prevent water stagnation.

Container cultivation requires more frequent watering and regular fertilization during the growing season. This method protects plants from voles, though it does not provide protection against slugs and snails. For winter, containers must be buried in the ground or moved to cool storage areas to ensure a dormancy period, as roots in a limited volume are more susceptible to freezing than in open ground.
