In the reference 34 varieties crop Bread wheat, where this is mentioned in the description.
For common wheat, the key stages for irrigation are tillering and the jointing-to-heading period. For spring wheat, the strategy typically includes three irrigations: pre-sowing (moisture recharge), and during the tillering and heading stages, whereas the regime for winter wheat is supplemented with a pre-sowing irrigation. Moisture deficit during this interval limits photosynthesis and cell growth and reduces grain count; however, excessive moisture impairs soil aeration and negatively affects mineral nutrition.
Unlike row crops, common wheat does not require intensive irrigation during the grain-filling period, as excess moisture at this time can trigger secondary growth, delay maturation, and lead to pre-harvest sprouting. Winter wheat has a weaker root system compared to spring wheat, which causes its increased dependence on soil moisture during the early stages of development.
