Vitis berlandieri Planch x Vitis rupestris Scheele
Vitis berlandieri x Vitis rupestris hybrids combine high resistance to active lime (up to 17–20%) with drought tolerance and a vigorous root system. These are vigorous rootstocks intended for grape cultivation on challenging calcareous and stony soils.

Hybridization of these species has made it possible to compensate for parental deficiencies: the high tolerance of Vitis berlandieri to calcareous soils is combined with vigorous growth and good compatibility with scion varieties inherited from Vitis rupestris. Such rootstocks effectively prevent chlorosis in soils with high calcium content, where other grape species show low productivity.
These rootstocks are characterized by strong growth, which allows for their cultivation in infertile areas; however, in fertile soils, this may lead to excessive shoot development. Typical agrotechnical features include a deep root system that ensures drought resistance, a tendency for active lateral shoot growth, and a long growing season, which may delay scion maturation.
