Hop Yield

Hop yield is defined as the weight of marketable cones per unit area. High variety productivity is estimated at 26.3 ц/ha or higher, while figures exceeding 30 ц/ha are considered leading in the production sector.

To assess hop productivity, the indicator of marketable cone weight in centners or tonnes per hectare is used. In breeding practice, the sample bush method is applied to determine this parameter: cones are harvested manually upon reaching technical maturity, weighed, and then recalculated per hectare. Under production conditions, yield is determined by direct weighing of the produce harvested from the plots.

Productivity levels depend on the variety, intensity of agrotechnologies, and regional characteristics. A value below 10 ц/ha is considered a critically low threshold, while average indicators on farms vary in the range of 16–20 ц/ha. Achieving target figures is directly related to the optimization of mineral nutrition, where NPK application can provide a yield increase of up to 50–75%, as well as to moisture availability during critical phases of flowering and cone formation.
