The variety is a descendant of the traditional Saaz (Žatecký poloraný červeňák) variety and was developed as its alternative to maintain the beer profile. It belongs to semi-early aromatic varieties with medium-sized cones.

The yield of the variety exceeds the traditional Saaz by 25% and ranges from 1.7–2.1 t/ha. The alpha-acid content is in the range of 4.5–7%, the cohumulone share is less than 30%.

The hop is intended for the second and late hopping of lagers and the production of traditional Pilsner-style beer, distinguished by a delicate hop aroma with herbal notes.
