The Ruslan variety belongs to the bitter-aromatic type. In dry cones, the essential oil content reaches 2.58 ml/100 g, and the alpha-acid content is about 9.2%. Within the essential oil composition, the myrcene level reaches up to 56.2%, and the proportion of cohumulone in the alpha-acids reaches 43.8%.

The variety is distinguished by high stability of biochemical parameters, including polyphenol content, across growing years. The plant is included in the registries of the International Hop Growers' Convention and is identified on the basis of a genetic passport.
