Apricot yield

Prunus armeniaca L.

Apricot yield is a key economic trait measured in kilograms per tree or tons per hectare. Productivity indicators are significantly influenced by the stability of bearing, which is limited by the sensitivity of flower buds to climatic factors.

To assess apricot yield, data on fruit weight per tree or per unit area are used. In commercial orcharding, 10–12 t/ha are considered average figures, while 20 t/ha and above are classified as high results. For individual trees, a yield of 15–30 kg is considered moderate, and figures of 60 kg and above are high.

An important characteristic of the crop is the stability of bearing, which is often disrupted by spring frosts and thaws. With a high load on the tree, fruit thinning is required to prevent fruit size reduction and depletion of the plant. Variety selection is based on the balance between potential yield and the frost resistance of flower buds.
