The yield level of modern cultivars reaches 10–12 t/ha, and up to 15 t/ha or more in intensive plantations, while under industrial conditions, the figures often range from 3–4 t/ha.

Key factors of productivity include the self-fertility of the cultivar, which reaches 80% in the best varieties, and precocity. Yield is closely related to agronomic practices, particularly regular pruning to renew 1–2-year-old growth, as well as the cultivar's suitability for mechanized harvesting, which is determined by the berry attachment strength.

The age-related dynamics of currant productivity are characterized by reaching a peak in the fifth year of fruiting, after which yields begin to decline. Harvest stability is highly dependent on external stressors such as spring frosts, drought, soil waterlogging, and pest infestation, for example, by the blackcurrant gall mite.
