The variety is a traditional genotype maintained in the Balearic Islands germplasm bank. It is not a result of breeding, but represents a local form selected within the framework of genetic resource conservation programs.
During physical and chemical studies of the fruit pulp powder of the Boval variety, one of the lowest pH levels (5.0) was recorded. In scientific literature, the variety is considered in the context of comparing fruit morphological parameters and antioxidant properties with other traditional varieties.
