The Costella variety tree is characterized by large size, spreading crown shape and high productivity, reaching up to 10 meters in height. The pods have a significant length of 14 to 22 cm and an average weight of about 21 g, with an average of 11 seeds contained in one fruit.
The variety has a low seed yield of 8–10%, which limits its commercial use in gum production. The plant is susceptible to powdery mildew.
