The variety is hermaphrodite, which simplifies orchard management by eliminating the need for pollinator trees. Trees of this variety possess high vigor and begin to bear fruit sooner than female carob varieties.
The pods of the variety contain a high level of total sugar and a relatively low proportion of palmitic acid in the pulp composition. The seed yield of this variety is lower compared to some other types, which is due to the morphological characteristics of the pods.
The plant is adapted to the Mediterranean climate and is capable of growing on saline, calcareous, and poor soils. The variety belongs to the local genetic pool conserved for the maintenance of regional biodiversity.
