The plant forms a compact, medium-sized head with crisp leaves, the intense color of which intensifies under short daylight hours. The variety is resistant to cold and tolerates autumn weather conditions well, although some breeding forms may show sensitivity to frost.

Used primarily fresh for salads, as well as boiled or stewed. Recommended sowing times fall in the second half of summer, which allows for harvesting in the autumn-winter period.
