The plant forms compact, round-shaped heads. The leaves have a distinct dark burgundy color with white veins; the characteristic red color appears when night temperatures drop during the autumn period. The taste of the leaves is slightly bitter, the texture is crunchy.

The variety is intended for fresh consumption. The plant possesses resistance to light frosts, which allows harvesting until late autumn. The vegetation period is approximately 70–90 days.
