The plant belongs to the Chioggia type and forms dense, compact, round-shaped heads. The leaves have a wine-red color with prominent white veins; the leaf texture is characterized as tender and crispy.

The variety is early-maturing and does not require special forcing. The plant prefers open sunny sites and fertile, well-drained soils. The leaf color becomes more intense when grown under short daylight conditions and cool nights.
