The plant is a large deciduous shrub or small tree 4–6 meters tall with a spreading, broad-rounded crown. In spring, the foliage has a saturated purple-red hue, which may turn bronze-green by the end of summer. Flowering occurs before the leaves emerge, from March to April.

The fruits are oblong or broadly elliptical, ripen in September–October, and are covered with a reddish-brown shell. The variety has good winter hardiness and wind resistance, but requires cross-pollination with other hazelnut varieties for stable fruit bearing.

The variety is versatile and is used both for ornamental purposes to create hedges or contrasting groups and as a fruit crop for nut production.
