Variety description

10 August 2026

The mature plant is a broad multi-stemmed shrub that can be trained into a small tree form. The large leaves, reaching 12 cm in length, acquire an intense purple-red hue in the sun, but may turn green when grown in partial shade.

The nuts have an oblong broad-elliptical shape, a reddish-brown shell, and fall easily from the husk. The plant is characterized by good winter hardiness down to -26°C, drought tolerance, and low soil requirements, although it prefers fertile and drained soils.

The variety has decorative and fruit-bearing purposes and is often used in landscape design for creating hedges or as a solitary plant.
