The plant reaches a height of 20 to 40 cm. The foliage is needle-like and evergreen. The flowers have a warm pink hue and contrasting black-brown anthers; the lower parts of the shoots may be lighter.
The variety is undemanding and can grow in soils ranging from acidic to alkaline, provided drainage is ensured. It is used in group plantings, heather gardens, rock gardens, and containers, and also serves as an early source of nectar and pollen for insects.
