Variety description

The variety is a compact, prostrate or wide-spreading shrub with a height of about 15–30 cm. The foliage is evergreen; a characteristic feature is the reddish-brown or bronze tint, most pronounced in winter time.
The flowers are lilac-pink when opening, acquiring a rich purple-pink color during the flowering process. The flowering period falls in the winter-spring time, from February to May.
The plant is frost-hardy, capable of growing on both acidic and slightly alkaline soils. It is used in ornamental gardening as a ground cover plant, suitable for rock gardens, heather gardens, and container cultivation.
