Variety description

10 August 2026

Fruits of the Turco variety are characterized as small, ovoid in shape, with dark purple skin and red flesh. The plant forms large trees with small five-lobed leaves. The variety is bifere, meaning it produces two harvests during the year.

The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption and drying. The variety is of Italian origin and was historically described in pomological literature of the early 20th century. In a number of cases, it is used in high-density plantings; in particular, its presence in Latin America is noted.
