The Elixir variety is an aromatic hop bred in France. The alpha acid content is 4.6–7.0%, beta acid content is 4.5–7.4%, and oil content is in the range of 0.8–2.2 ml/100 g.
The aromatic profile includes hints of cognac, leather, tobacco, as well as notes of tropical fruits, mandarin, orange, and flowers. The variety is typically used for late and dry hopping in the preparation of various beer styles, such as farmhouse ales, dark beers, lagers, and IPA.
