Variety description

The Huell Melon variety was bred in Germany. Genetically, it originates from the American Cascade variety and an unknown German male line. The plant has good disease resistance, is adapted to modern hop cultivation requirements, and is characterized by a yield of about 2000 kg/ha with a medium ripening period.
The variety contains 6.5–8.0% alpha acids, 6.0–8.0% beta acids, and 25–30% cohumulone. The total essential oil content varies from 0.8 to 1.2 ml/100 g, with myrcene as the main component. The aromatic profile includes shades of white honeydew melon, strawberry, apricot, and floral notes.
The variety is used exclusively as an aromatic hop, mainly for late hopping and dry hopping. It is used in the production of IPA, wheat beer, Belgian ales, and fruit beer to impart fruit complexity to the drink without excessive bitterness.
