The Iunga variety belongs to the bitter-aromatic group of hops. It was obtained through breeding work by crossing the Polish Lubelski variety with a selected wild male plant from the former Yugoslavia.

The alpha acid content in the cones is 8.2–14%, and the essential oil content is about 1.5–2.3 mg/100 g of dry matter. The aromatic profile is characterized by notes of pineapple, peach, honey, and citrus, as well as spicy and earthy undertones.

The variety is versatile and suitable for use both for bitterness and aroma in various beer styles, including lagers, ales, and IPA. The variety is suitable for cultivation in temperate climates.
