Rootstock P 59 belongs to the category of ultra-dwarf rootstocks. Trees grafted onto it are characterized by compact size, and this rootstock is considered one of the most low-growing in its breeding series.

This component is used for grafting apple varieties in intensive fruit growing. Studies note the rootstock's sensitivity to planting conditions, in particular to the phenomenon of soil fatigue when establishing an orchard on the site of old plantings.
