The rootstock was obtained by crossing M.8 and the Krasny Shtandart variety. It is genetically linked to Malus niedzwetzkyana, which gives all plant parts, including bark, leaves, wood, and roots, a characteristic anthocyanin coloration.
The plant is classified as a dwarfing rootstock, with growth vigor close to M.9. The rootstock possesses high winter hardiness, is resistant to fire blight and collar rot, and is relatively drought tolerant. Due to a weakly developed root system, trees grafted on this rootstock require the installation of supports.
