The rootstock is semi-dwarf, providing trees with a growth vigor of about 3/4 of Antonovka seedlings. It is distinguished by a powerful root system, thanks to which grafted trees often do not need permanent trellis support.
The plant possesses high winter hardiness, suitable for conditions in the central region. It promotes the entry of grafted varieties into fruiting in the 4–6th year after planting and is easily propagated vegetatively by layers or cuttings.
Moderate resistance to Phytophthora collar rot and fire blight is noted, while the rootstock is susceptible to woolly apple aphid. It is used in intensive fruit growing as a base for grafting cultivated apple varieties.
