A tree or large shrub 3 to 8 meters tall with a spreading, often weeping crown shape. Flowers are fragrant, reddish in bud, turning white or pale pink when blooming. Flowering is characterized by particular abundance.
Fruits are small, globose, 1–1.5 cm in diameter. The plant is light-loving, prefers fertile and well-drained soils, and has moderate winter hardiness. Resistant to scab, but may be affected by powdery mildew, rust, and fire blight.
