The tree is medium-sized, 3–6 meters tall, with a dense, spreading crown. Small fruits weighing 20–75 g have a spherical or spherical-conical shape. The pale yellow skin is almost entirely covered with a dark red or purple blush and a pronounced waxy bloom. A long, thin stem holds the fruit on the tree.
The fruit flesh is yellowish, sometimes with a reddish tint, firm and juicy, with a sour and tart taste. The variety is classified as autumn or late-autumn, ripening in August–October. It is characterized by high winter hardiness, drought tolerance, and relative resistance to diseases. The fruit has good keeping quality and is prone to biennial bearing.
The fruit is rarely consumed fresh. The primary use is industrial processing into jams, jellies, compotes, and marinades, as well as use in cider making due to the high content of tannins and acids. Thanks to the decorative appearance of the fruit, the tree is used in landscape design.
