The variety is intended exclusively for use as a rootstock and is not a fruit-bearing variety for apple production. Within the framework of international UPOV guidelines, characteristics important for propagation and root system formation are evaluated for this rootstock.
According to the results of comparative studies, the growth of the scion on the PI-AU 9-24 rootstock is slightly stronger than on the common M.9 rootstock, while remaining close to the group of dwarf rootstocks.
