The variety is an open-pollinated seedling of the «Blushed Calville» variety. The tree is moderately vigorous, forming a rounded or spreading crown. It possesses high winter hardiness, is adapted to northern regions, and is characterized by moderate resistance to fire blight.
The fruits are small, about 3.5 cm in diameter, round-ovate in shape. The skin is thin, greenish-yellow in color with a blush and dull red stripes. The flesh is yellowish-white, firm and crisp, becoming mealy quickly when overripe. The shelf life of the fruits is about 3 weeks.
The variety is used for fresh consumption, juices, and canning, and is valued as an ornamental plant. «Rescue» is a parent form for a number of hardy varieties, such as «Norkent» and «Norland».
