The Ribston Pippin variety was obtained in 1707 in England from seeds brought from France. The fruits are medium-sized and flat in shape; the ground color of the skin is yellow with an orange overcolor.
The flesh of the fruit is dense, fine-grained, and moderately juicy. Due to triploidy, the variety does not produce fertile pollen. Harvesting is recommended before full maturity at the end of September, as the fruits are prone to dropping.
