The RN 29 rootstock differs from the standard M.9 clone by more vigorous growth and a more developed and robust root system. It promotes the production of large-sized fruit and early onset of fruiting in grafted varieties.
The plant has good resistance to Phytophthora, but is susceptible to fire blight and is affected by woolly apple aphid. Due to the insufficient stability of the root system, trees grafted onto this rootstock require mandatory support, especially in the first years of growth.
