Tree or large shrub with a height of 3 to 6 meters with a moderately fast growth rate. The crown is compact in youth, acquiring a broadly oval and spreading shape with age. The variety was created based on Malus niedzwetzkyana by crossing with other forms.
The leaves are oval in shape and have a rich purple-red color when unfolding, shifting to bronze-purple shades in summer and crimson in autumn. Abundant flowering occurs in May: the flowers are simple, fragrant, dark purple or ruby-red in color, measuring 2.5–4 cm.
The fruits are small, 1.5–2 cm in diameter, dark red or purple with a bluish waxy bloom, ripening by mid-September. The variety has high winter hardiness. It is relatively resistant to powdery mildew, but can show sensitivity to scab and fire blight, requiring regular pruning.
