The variety is primarily oil-producing, the fruits have an ovoid shape, an average weight of 2.5–3 g, and turn black upon ripening. The tree is characterized by a spreading crown, elliptic-lanceolate leaves, and high adaptability to various conditions, including low temperatures.
Ripening occurs in November–December, oil yield is about 17–18%. The plant is self-sterile and requires cross-pollination; varieties Pizz’e Carroga, Olia Niedda, and Tonda di Cagliari are used as pollinators.
Synonyms for the variety include Palma, Aligaresa, Algherese, Tonda di Sassari, Sassarese, Olia de Ozzu, Olieddu, Sivigliana piccola and Bosinca.
