Brava (Brava Gallega) is an ancient local variety adapted to the cool and humid climate of Galicia. The fruits have an oval shape with a weakly expressed apex. Due to climate change, the fruit ripening period has shifted from the winter months to the period from late October to December.
The variety is valued for the high quality of the resulting oil, which is distinguished by an intense taste and high polyphenol content. Brava oil has a more pronounced and sharp taste compared to another local variety, Mansa. The oil yield from the fruits of this variety is relatively low.
