The Bugla variety tree is characterized by weak to medium vigor with a dense crown and slow development in the first years of life. The variety has variable yield, and the fruit ripening process occurs early and is often uneven.
The medium-sized fruits have a high flesh-to-pit ratio and are prone to rapid blackening and shriveling. The variety exhibits resistance to the fungal disease peacock spot and relative resistance to the olive fruit fly.
The fruits of the variety are used primarily in blends for olive oil production. Despite a low oil content in pure form, the product is rich in polyphenols and tocopherols, and in blends, it is valued for its mild taste with hints of almond and fresh olives.
