The variety is a collection of landrace biotypes, also known as Burgaca, Morgaca, Domaća, and Gura. The tree is vigorous with a dense canopy and upright branches. Leaves are medium-sized, elliptical or lanceolate in shape, olive-green on top and grayish underneath.
Fruits are medium to large in size, oval, often asymmetrical, changing color from green to dark purple or black upon ripening. The Buža Puntoža subtype has a characteristic bump at the tip of the fruit.
The plant is demanding regarding growing conditions, susceptible to pests and fungal diseases, and sensitive to adverse weather during the flowering period. For stable fruiting, cross-pollination is required with Moražola, Karbonaca, Rošinjola, Leccino, or Pendolino varieties.
Early-harvest oil possesses an intense aroma of freshly cut grass, green tomatoes, almonds, and artichokes with a pronounced bitterness. In late-harvest oil, the taste becomes milder and sweeter.
