Boussarlu, also known as Boussarlu du Val, is an old local variety common in the Var department. The variety belongs to the category of folk selection and remained little-known for a long time, but efforts are currently being made by local producers to restore and preserve it.
The fruits of this variety are traditionally used as table olives, especially in their black form, although they are technically suitable for oil production as well. At the moment, the variety is included in professional lists as an object requiring further study, while detailed agronomic characteristics of the plant are absent from open sources.
